Apartment Review for Off Broadway - Grand Rapids, MI

The apartments are pretty if you like ultra modern. Office staff can be nice, but are very difficult to get a hold of. These apartments are FREEZING in the winter because they are really drafty! Also, there is a train that goes by many times throughout the day and if you have an odd numbered apartment you'll hear it constantly, impossible to sleep with the windows open on cool nights when you're trying to keep the energy bill down. The apartment has a fruit fly problem during the warmer months, probably because it's mainly college students and lets face it they never clean. Also, if you need to sleep at night because you work early in the mornings, don't plan on getting a good nights sleep here. This place is pretty close to a frat house. There are sometimes 3 parties PER floor. There are constant beer cans in the halls on weekends, although the cleaning staff has them taken care of by Monday morning at least. I've seen pizza smeared on the hallway walls, puke, broken glass, cigarette butts, and the main lobby smells like weed because there are some people on the first floor who smoke constantly. EXTREMELY NOISY. The maintance guy is nice, but it takes him forever to fix things...unless you're a girl. I never had to wait, but I know my neighbors (who were guys) did. Also, there's something wrong with the wiring because the power shuts off sometimes. Wouldn't be a big deal if you could turn it back on in the cicuit breaker, but it tends to happen on the weekends when there's no one there to open the utility closet. I talked to management about the problem and they said it was because we were running too many things at once, which I'm not stupid I know that's why a curcuit flips, but this was when I may have one light on and the TV...that's not going to fry the circuit. Parking can be difficult sometimes, it's not monitored very well. There is a bar right next to the building, and I mean right next as in across a sidewalk, so it doesn't always feel safe. But they do have security gaurds on duty, though they're pretty old and I'm not sure they could really protect me. There are lots of homeless people in the parking lot as well who go through the dumpsters and ask for money. It's not great, but it's the worse place you could live.
