Apartment Review for Viewpointe Apartments - Grand Rapids, MI

Wow, honestly, where do I even begin? I feel the need to inform possible renters of Viewpoint Apartments behind Pietros on Birchcrest of all the horror that could come from moving here, but I don't even know where to start! -Many apartments are infested with cockroaches (especially upper floors) and they can't get rid of them, don't bother to spray/use professional exterminator -They WILL go in your apartment when you're not home -There is a high percentage of grumbly senior citizens that live here - I'm talking 75+ - so be sure you are polite, quiet, and attend church to avoid meddeling scrutiny from neighbors -rent checks are lost often, so BE SURE TO SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS or they will keep charging you like you never even paid -The Manager Lois will surely not get off her butt or go out of her way to help you in any way, shape, or form. -There are smells of gas leaks and they avoid DTE representatives because to fix the things that need to be fixed this crazy company would go bankrupt. -Kitchens and cabinets are passed off as contemporary but the cupboards are from about 1974. -They do not fully CLEAN the carpets or replace them, even if its needed, before you move in, so even if when you walk into your apartment for the FIRST time after signing a lease (and it will be the first time because they will NOT let you see the actual one you'll be renting ahead of time - probly because they know you'd say NO way) - if the carpet still reeks of cat pee from the last resident, thats too bad. They also will not tell you that their washer and dryer combo (both in one high-tech unit) - that is in your apartment actually makes your electric bill go SKYYYYY high, AND one complete load, from start/wash to finish/dried - will take roughly FIVE HOURS. They are also very complicated and difficult to use - and the office does not have a user's book for you or any instructions to help you. -Maintenance issues will take at least a month, if not longer, or if EVER, to get completed. Offer maintenance man, the manager's cousin a few beers and he'll complete it quicker. This is a family-run scam. Period. Oh and they killed the birds that nested in my balcony's eavestroff. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM!
